Dr. Lou, D.O.G. : Nail Trims…

Dr. Lou here with more information for you pet parents to chew on.  Today’s topic is nail trims!

Nail trims are one of the easiest things to forget about, but a very important part of your pet’s overall health.  A lot of my friends have mommies or daddies that get their nails done at a nail salon. We furry guys don’t really have nail techs, but we do have vet techs and groomers that can do the same thing for us.  Overgrown nails can cause a myriad of problems with our feet and joints and worsen problems that we may already have. (Plus it’s super uncomfortable for everybody…) Nails typically need to be trimmed once every 4-6 weeks, but frequency can vary from pet to pet (and from species to species, since we see more than just cats and dogs).  If your little loved one’s nails are looking a smidgen too long, make sure to call and schedule a nail trim right away.
